Resident Evil 5 Will Feature Pop-In Co-Op, Flashbacks, Old Faces

The latest issue of UK Magazine Xbox World 360 feautres a preview on Resident Evil 5 revealing some new information. That girl in the latest Famitsu scans of the game is actually an AI that follows you. If your friend wants to play with you, he can drop in your game and take over her, just like in Army of Two.

A “Mercenaries” mini-game will be present from Resident Evil 4. A cover system has been implemented in the mini-game allowing you to press up against walls or shoot around corners. You can now dodge and duck as well.

If you don’t want any spoilers, stop reading here. The game takes place in a small African country near a line of active volcanoes stretched across Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Kenya. The virus in the game releases due to volcanic activity. Sherry Birkin and Albert Wesker have been confirmed in the game as well. Playable flashbacks will come into the game to get more of the story in.

It’s shaping up to be amazing. Look for it in Capcom’s fiscal ‘08 (stretches into March ‘09).
