David Hayer Wants Sony to Let Him Write MGS4 Film Script
David Hayter, the voice behind Metal Gear’s Solid Snake, has stated on IMDB’s message boards that if they want him to write the script for the Metal Gear Solid film, then they should petition Sony Pictures.
“As for me writing the MGS movie, tell everyone on-line to write to Matt Tolmach at Sony Pictures studios in Culver City. If enough people do this, we may be back on board,†Hayter said on the boards.
And like he asked, the fans obeyed. The petition they started is located here.

Hmm…I rather have him PLAY as snake, put him through months of excerising to buff him up and dye his hair and whatnot, he’ll be awesome playing Snake.

Well, he did pen the first 2 X-Men films as well as The Scorpion King (which was pretty good) so I guess he’s up to the task of writing a good story for Metal Gear although I still the movie should have Kojima’s input in there somewhere.
Even Hayter admitted that he doesn’t really know anything about the story of the MGS, he just reads the lines given to him. That’s not to suggest that he doesn’t have any insight and doesn’t bring something valuable to the table as the voice of Snake; I’m just going by what he said.
Then again, he could’ve said that in case the story sucks and he doesn’t want anyone to associate him with the writing.
I still think Tom Cruise could do it but I wonder if people would think it was more MI and less MGS. Besides, Tom would bring a lot of baggage to the film versus another actor. I don’t have another one in mind right now but there’s got to be someone else that can do just a good a job as Tom.
