EA Responds to Orange Box Patch With a “No”

PlayStation 3

Electronic Arts have finally responded to that Orange Box petition most players have been hoping on. Here is their response (full e-mail on the left image):

“Honestly, EA will not create the patches. EA did not engineer/program the game. Valve did.”

From what we’ve seen since the beginning of the year. Electronic Arts keep saying it is up to Valve to do it, and Valve says its up to EA. In reality, we doubt it’ll ever get fixed, even though we want it to.

Whenever you have an official statement from a multi-zillion dollar company like EA begin a sentence “honestly” the following words are not going to be good.

Speaking zillions of dollars it looks like EA is passing the buck on this issue, which is shame because they should be listening to the fans and fixing the problem. HONESTLY, EA, we don’t care who fixes the problem so long as it gets fixed.

Ask any manager working in a sales capacity if the customer is concerned about the red tape that had to be cut in order to get the customer’s request through. The customer just wants their issue resolved. They could care less about who you had to talk to, who’s butt you had to kiss; for the customer is all about the end result.

For both EA and Valve to pass this issue back and forth means they really don’t care about the PS3. Maybe I’m jumping the gun but, again, a huge company like EA should be able to allocate a small team to investigate the issue and resolve it as quickly as possible. If they offered a patch it could mean more sales of the game. But no.

I wish I could boycott EA but Battlefield: Bad Company and the upcoming Mirror’s Edge are too good to pass up.

Still, someone needs to step and stand behind their product. Regardless of who did or didn’t do this or that, someone needs to step up to the plate and fix this issue already.
