If you were anticipating either Eight Days or The Getaway, you are now officially out of luck. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has just announced that it has stopped production on both of the PlayStation 3 titles that were in development at the Sony London Studio.

A statement issued says, "It has been agreed that production of both Eight Days and The Getaway will cease immediately due to the redistribution of resources and budget". It was basically deemed that the resources would be better allocated towards the "strong" first party lineup of games nearing completion coming out this year.

Eight Days was announced back in 2006 at E3 and showcased the game, which involved a shootout at a truckstop in the Arizona desert. Since then the information on the game went quiet until recently when interestingly enough the U.K.'s The Guardian just reported in April that Eight Days was "just ramping up to full production." This seems to hint that the decision to end the projects was just recently made. It is a shame as the game looked to have great potential, but Sony has its thoughts elsewhere and on other titles coming out soon. Scratch two games off the list.
