Rumor: PS3 Gamers Suing Valve for Bad Orange Box?

PlayStation 3

One of our readers, Toni T, has sent us in this saying that unhappy Orange Box gamers are going to sue Valve unless they receive a patch for the game before July 1, 2008. I know that is a short time, though when you think about it the game hasn’t received any real support in seven months. We post this as a rumor because the thread posted was supposedly deleted and we have no real proof whether gamers will actually pursue the suing. The case is for false advertising and they are bringing it to the US Federal Trade Commission. Although, we really don’t know any advertising that’s been done for the game.

[Thanks Toni T]

  1. VALVe handed over the code base of the orange box games to EA and a team in the UK ported over the code to the PS3

Orange box on the PS3 was entirely handled by EA and not VALVe. So if anything this claim should be directed to EA as VALVe wont be abled to force EA to patch anything if they dont want to.

Its worth noting that false advertisement will be thrown out of any court when it comes to patching games.Nothing false was advertised at all.

Patching is not assured part of payment for a game.

  2. Also get a HDTV tv the majority of ps3 games run better then games on SDTV pro evo being another good example also………….

  3. I think ea did a great job the patch makes the package perfect plus the ps3 controller is much more suited for the half life experience one of the best games on the ps3.All this bad press and negativity is false and not grounded in reality i am a 34 year old game veteran who likes perfection and know when somethings broken the ps3 version is not. This whole debate has been staged by xbox360 loving fanboys both machines have there merits and there is no doubt which has been proven with the patch that the ps3 can more then handle this game.

  4. Have this game on the xbox360 as well as the ps3 the ps3 version has been patched and now is more superior to the xbox360 version.Cannot possibly understand what all the fuss is about i owned the original hl2 package on the pc 4 years ago which was truly stuttery.Anyone who has the xbox360 version is aware that to has issues episode 2 especially which has several framerate issues and long loading times. The patch for the ps3 has improved the load times which are around 5-8 seconds plus the ps3 version is certainly smoother than the xbox360 plus it looks a whole lot better through hdmi on a hdtv tv certainly more darker and moody.Remeber the xbox version of hl2 now that was a mess.

LOL. This is a joke right? Surely nobody out there is really stupid enough to believe EA can be sued for false advertising over this.

I’d say he should do it! Even though valve makes good games they totally screwed the ps3 version, which was a big upset for me… It was like they did it on purpose. Even though I got orange box for my ps3, I had to sell that because it was so laggy I had to buy the PC version. And now Valve is only working for xbox…
