Star Ocean: The Last Hope Announced for Xbox 360

What happens when you whip out your checkbooks? You take away the exclusivity of a game that has been on one console for the past decade and bring it to another. Square Enix announced today at a Tokyo event for Microsoft that Star Ocean IV, titled Star Ocean: The Last Hope will be coming exclusively to the Microsoft Xbox 360. The newly released trailer is looking good and we cannot wait to see more of this title. Enjoy!

Update: IGN got in contact with Square Enix PR today asking about a PLAYSTATION 3 version of the game.

Square Enix producer Yoshinori Yamagishi said, “We cannot announce anything on that. We can say that it will be released first [on the Xbox 360]. Whether we’ll release it on the PS3 is undecided. We may release it, we may not.”

    I’m pretty sure it will come too eventually, RPGs don’t exactly have stellar sales on 360. Most RPG players get PS3’s for RPGs since PSone came out, it’s been the RPG platform. I’m sure many of those owners are wondering what the hell is going on.

    I’m pretty sure it’s coming to the PS3. It’s just that they can’t announce it right now until the proper event.

    Square’s fiscal reported a loss over the 2007/2008 period.

    Sqaure enix wants to increase it’s overseas profit, Xbox360 doing very well in USA and UK(crap in Jp) what better way to increase Overseas profit.

    Square needs money, Microsoft Japan comes along with a fat cheque for timed exclusivity, don’t think they’re going to refuse.

    As many I’m dissapointed but not angry. If you’re anger should be directed to anyone it should be towards Sony for not making it PS3 exclusive.

    I don’t get it… they know that the PS3 is the home of RPG’s and people who buy a PS3 like RPG’s. So why do this, the PS3 is catching up (Finally) and Square has such a long history with the PS Brand.

    They won’t sell a lot of copies and Japan and in the US and Europian market they won’t sell as many copies as they will do with the PS3 version … stupid and strange!

    I’m starting to lose hope in Sony, Square-Enix and just about everything else. I think I’ll be looking for a 360 soon…

    I hope all the Star Ocean fans in Japan make a huge fuss about this. Sorry for posting another comment, but I have never been this angry at Square before. The company i have loved since I was a child just put a dagger through my heart.
