Yakuza 3 Announced for PLAYSTATION 3

PlayStation 3

No, no, this is not a US announcement of Yakuza: Kenzan!. This is the announcement of Yakuza 3, which we’ve all thought Kenzan was. Turns out they didn’t use the number “3″ in Kenzan because it wasn’t a sequel to Yakuza 2.

In this week’s Famitsu, Producer Toshihiro Nagoshi revealed that over at SEGA’s NE Software R&D Planning Section, Yakuza 3, the direct sequel to the second game, is in development.

This game tells the story directly following Yakuza 2. This title returns us to Kamiyacho, the setting of the original setting of the second game, and Kazuma Kiryu takes the role as lead character once more. Kamiyacho will still remain the main area of play.

Development for Yakuza 3 started right after Kenzan was out the door. Lets hope this comes to the US and EU as well as Kenzan.
