Grand Theft Auto IV Producer Unsure About DLC This Year

Xbox 360

Grand Theft Auto IV producer Dan Houser said in an interview with Variety that the upcoming downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of the game could miss it’s originally intended Fall 2008 release.

“I’m not sure. It’s going well. But we don’t know a date.” Houser told Variety when asked if he expected it to release this year.

“We hope to be announcing that in the next few weeks. We’re still figuring out a few things. We’re more focused on quality than dates, always have been. But the development is going really good. It’s shaping up to be something we’re very proud of. That was our goal ”

So the next few weeks. Let’s hope that gets to us by the end of 2008.

This has to be the most improperly handled release ever. First off, MS paid $50 mil for this content and didn’t capitalize on that more in ads before the game was released (most of the ads I saw for the game had a PS3 logo at the end and the 360 ads I saw had a some small text at the bottom that was only on the screen for a matter of seconds).

If anyone bought the 360 for this content may find themselves not caring since there are so many titles around the corner. Then again waiting for next year might be what the 360 needs while Sony heats up the spotlight with Killzone 2.
