PlayStation Heroes to bring Comics and Mangas to the PlayStation Store?

PlayStation 3

A new survey from Sony Computer Entertainment America tells us that Sony may be considering opening up a digital comic distribution service over the PlayStation Store sometime soon or in the future.

The survey asks gamers if they would buy comics, manga, and graphic novels if they were available. The surevy said that mangas would range from $4.99 to $9.99, comics from $0.99 to $2.99, comic subscriptions from $4.99 to $12.99, and graphic novels from $5.99 to $19.99, that is if they were made available, of course.

This is worth keeping your eyes open for, since SCEA is already considering this service enough to give it prices. Not just that, the survey gives gamers a choice of names they’d like for the service to be called if it does open. Those names are PlayStation Comics, PlayStation Villains, PlayStation Heroes, Comic Breakout, or Zero Page.

I prefer PlayStation Heroes.

What the fuck? Why the hell is the Manga so expensive?

    • I’m not sure about where you live, but around here, one issue of a Manga such as Naruto or DBZ usually costs around $10.

“Playstation Comics” sounds too limited to me. Not sure how I feel about “Zero Page”. Sounds kinda weird but I got used to the super boring and wholly unoriginal “Playstation Network” so I can probably get used to just about anything. Wasn’t too thrilled about the PSN logo but that grew on me too. But “Playstation Heroes” isn’t bad either. I guess PSH for short? PS1, PS2, PS3, PSX, PSP, PSN, PSH. Yeah, it flows with the others.

Funny, I was just on Marvel’s site a few nights ago looking at their digital comics and actually considered looking into buying a few or even going as far as getting a subscription to a particular title. So strange that now I’m reading about Sony getting in on the action.

I’m still waiting for the PSN Store to offer subscription prices on full seasons of the TV shows they’re now offering. I might be more inclined to get all the episodes of Heroes if I could get a deal for whole season.

Almost forgot to mention, love the new rounded rectangles with “PS3″ and “X360″ icons next to each story. Very nice touch. You just keep making the site better and better.

Just know that it’s liked and appreciated. I’ve been coming here for a while now and remember the days of pop-up comment windows and lots and lots of white space. Thankfully the site has only gotten better since then.
