I saw the video but it wasn't very good quality so I wouldn't know really.

I don't know why the game would MAKE you kill innocent bystanders, it doesn't sound like it would fit into the story (not that I know the story) at all.

GTA is, as you say, cartoonish and not thought of as serious outside of the odious tabloid press. Which brings up a point actually, if MW2 has this sort of realistic, forced killing of innocents, it would only inflame the ignorant and luddite populations, which is something none of us want.

I'm in favour of harrowing scenes in any game PROVIDING that they are part of the artistic experience and the storyline. For example, it would be hard to create a macabre World War II story without seeing at least some of the death and misery which enveloped the world.

The majority of our industry is aimed now at an adult population and so obviously such content should not be stopped - BUT, if it is nothing more than trying to score points with gore hungry teenagers then I will have to object. This MW2 thing sounds odd to me, as we don't know WHY it is thought you must kill these people - I just hope it is a crucial part of the storyline and not some sort of "Shock tactic".

Looks like the video got pulled. All I see is what appears to be a button for "replay" in Japanese but nothing happens. It just loads thumbnails for other videos.

But without viewing the video I'm already disappointed in the game if it means that killing innocent people is a way to actually progress in the game. That's just wrong and to make it an objective is downright brutal and sadistic.

GTA was bad enough but because of the cartoony look it and the over-the-top set pieces the ability to kill innocent people was more of a joke. But with the realism that MW2 brings to the table killing innocents should be the last thing you should have to do.

I thought the game was more about "war" and the locations where fights are going on are in more remote places where most of the citizens of a particular area have already cleared out because it's clear that soldiers are only coming here to add to their body count tally.

I can only hope that this isn't true and that's it's all some big misunderstanding. I have every intention of buying this game and I would hate to think that a game like this promotes the idea that killing innocent bystanders is good for the game's story. At least make it so that the bad guys are doing it and the heroes have to stop them.
