Naughty Dog developer who goes by the PlayStation Network username of ReklissAbandon has confirmed on the official PlayStation boards that cross-game chat is on the way, accidentally it seems as his original post has been removed and replaced with the word “deleted”.

“I think they wanted people to have fun and enjoy the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on,” the Naughty Dog dev’s original post read, “but I will suggest it anyway. Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies positions.”

Now, the post is gone, but we assure you all the proof you need is in the quotation above. Now it’s just a matter of when, rather than if.

When I think about the fact that the iPhone just got MMS I guess it’s not too bad that the PS3 is 3+ years late on a feature that should’ve been implemented when the system was launched. Or, at the very least, when the official Sony Bluetooth headset was released.

As you all remember Eric Lempel said that the PSN team was taking the rest of the year off on firmware updates the chances of seeing this before the end of the year is probably slim to none.

But we’ve gone this long without out another 6 months to a year won’t hurt.

I will take the “I will believe it when I see it” approach to this.
