EA officially announces Mercenaries Inc.

That multiplayer Mercenaries game that leaked out of Pandemic Studios today won’t be canceled, but instead developed by its new home at EA Los Angeles.

“We are very excited to announce a new installment in the popular Mercenaries series because it demonstrates our continued commitment to Pandemic’s rich catalog of intellectual properties,” said EA vice-president Nick Earl.

“From the studio at EALA, a core creative team is forging new ground and conceptualizing new ideas for this exciting franchise.”

Mercenaries Inc. will be the first Pandemic title released after their studio shutdown. As for the platforms, nothing’s been confirmed, but we’re assuming PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC just as Mercenaries 2 was.
