Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer blocks 360 party chat

Xbox 360

Cheaters be gone, Infinity Ward proclaims, as the Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 doesn’t allow players to use party chat while in a multiplayer session.

The reason? Cheaters. Dirty, filthy cheaters. That means if you want to talk to your friends while playing Modern Warfare 2 online, they have to be in-game with you.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases on November 10.

Thanks, GAF.

  1. I find myself using Party Chat every now and then. Although it’s a good motive, I don’t think it’d be fair for those who don’t cheat and just prefer to stay with their group no matter what game they’re playing.

I guess the positive of disabling party chat outweighs the negative, though.

  2. I actually hate the Party Chat on XBOX live, and not really because of cheaters (though I realise this why Infinity Ward have blocked it). I just don’t like how random people seem to join and all 8 people talking at once drives me mad.

But on topic, I agree that people who play online shooters are fed up with party chat related cheating, so I congratulate IW on this move (I hardly ever play FPS’s online tbh, but my friends who do are always complaing about cheating in this fashion).
