Actually the improved web browser and photo gallery revisions are really nice. Still feel that the color change is weak but the fact that the box only appears when you highlight a friend is a HUGE improvement. I can only assume they have plans for those god-awful boxes so I guess we’re stuck with them.

And I’m still waiting for them to improve the pop-up controls too. And we need some new picture gallery slideshows and music visualizers too.

Anyway, does anyone else find it odd that this is being released so quietly? Microsoft made a HUGE deal out of adding FB, Twitter and Last.fm apps and here’s Sony with their nonchalant “oh, well, you know, yeah… we got it too” style of release.

Again, Sony is starting to chip away at the strengths of XBL now that they have Netflix and FB and all for free. Add to the fact that you can actually hit your FB and Netflix page from the PS3’s web browser and the argument starts to earn credibility.

The community still has a long way to go and not everyone has a headset that encourages more connection with the community but Sony’s making the right moves.
