Although Bethesda Softworks’ parent company Zenimax bought out id Software back in June, Electronic Arts still owned publishing rights for id’s upcoming RAGE, and where to remain publisher regardless of the deal.

However, that doesn’t seem so any longer. Bethesda Softworks has today announced that they will now be publishing RAGE and that EA will not have anything to do with the game anymore.

That’s basically it. Presser at the break.

ZENIMAX ACQUIRES RIGHTS TO PUBLISH RAGE

December 15, 2009 (Rockville, MD) – ZeniMax Media Inc., parent company of id Software, announced today that it has picked up the publishing rights for RAGE™, the video game under development at id Software.

RAGE will be published by Bethesda Softworks, another ZeniMax subsidiary. As a result, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) will not be involved in the sales and marketing of RAGE. The ongoing development of RAGE is unaffected by this development.
