Recently released in Japan, Square Enix’s highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII is off to a great start in its homeland. The PlayStation 3-only title is making numbers and taking top spot on the software charts for Japan.

Enterbrain, publisher of Famitsu, has revealed that sales for the game’s first four days top just over 1.5 million units sold. 1.1 million of those copies were from day one alone.

PlayStation 3 sold a great 240,000 consoles over the week, as well; that’s including the “Lightning” edition PlayStation 3 bundle. The week before Final Fantasy XIII hit, PlayStation 3 sold 74,000 consoles. We’re just throwing that in for comparisons sake.
