Twisted Pixel, the guys behind Xbox LIVE Arcade’s The Maw and ‘Splosion Man, are hard at work on their third original game. It’s the game they’ve always wanted to do, apparently, and it’s called Comic Jumper.

The game was announced back at PAX ‘09 but tonight comes the first gameplay. Watch with a smile as super hero Smiley Faces messed up even the most common hero cliches.

What’s funnier than watching a Kevin Butler PlayStation 3 commercial from the present? Watching a Kevin Butler commercial from the future, obviously.

In a new commercial posted on his YouTube account, Kevin Butler, or Ol’ KB, comes to you from the future of November 2010 to talk about the PlayStation Move’s “incredible success”. He takes a few cracks at the Wii’s motion controls and Natal’s lack of buttons, as well.

He’s right. Boxers don’t hit like that.

If the game’s not enough for you, now you can have its official art in the palm of your hand. Square Enix announced the release of the Final Fantasy XIIII Larger-Than-Life Gallery application for iPod Touch and iPhone today.

The gallery features all the artwork and cinematic images seen in the game at its highest-resolution. A clock and calendar are also included in the app, for if you ever feel like going past the slide screen to check the date and time.

The app is available now for a hefty $8.99. I’ll let you decide if you want to drop that kind of cash for an art gallery.

Io Interactive’s sequel to 2007’s terribly received Kane & Lynch is set to arrive across the west this August. North America gets the game August 24 and European territories get the game August 27.

The game uses some fancy, YouTube-style camera. Makes everything look all grainy. Hopefully, the sequel will be better than the first.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura has let loose a couple of new details about the upcoming PlayStation 3 action RPG in a recent interview with Square Enix Members Japan.

First off he revealed that the game’s producer Hashimoto isn’t letting him reveal any big new information. Looks like he wants to get it out as much as we want to get it.

Although, he did say that each part of Versus XIII is progressing different and not everything in the game has been connected yet. They recently just got the airship flying over the world map (the image above is not from Versus XIII).

Airships. Hell yeah.

Thanks, GAF.

Vanquish director Shinji Mikami has told the latest issue of PSM3 that Platinum Games is developing the third-person shooter on PlayStation 3 because they don’t want another Bayonetta on their hands.

“The team know less about making games for PS3 than Xbox 360, so we thought the sensible thing to do was to make the game on PS3 first then move it over to Xbox,” Mikami told PSM3.

“If we can get Vanquish to a certain standard on PS3, we can make Xbox the same.”

Sounds all fair to me. That way players can experience Vanquish at it’s max on either console.

Thanks, CVG.

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami has told the latest issue of Famitsu magazine of plans to open his own game studio in Tokyo. The studio will focus on bringing talented new developers into the industry.

“One of the reasons I’m building a company is to raise the game makers of the future, people who haven’t gone pro yet,” Mikami told Famitsu.

“Game development is often overseen from a pure business perspective here, which is unique to Japan, and I have the impression that environment tends to prune away young talent. I really want to make Tango a company run from a creator’s perspective, one that expands upon new talent.”

As for what his new studio will develop first: “I’d like to make a choice with the rest of the team as we grow our numbers. I’ve been speaking with a number of publishers as well, but we haven’t signed any contracts yet.”

Mikami is currently hard at work with Platinum Games on Vanquish, an innovative new third-person shooter.

The above image is allegedly the motherboard for a new slimmer Xbox 360 model. The image shows that both the CPU and GPU have been combined into a single chip.

The leaked images come from Chinese BBS A9VG (via Kotaku). Apparently, testing on this new motherboard has recently completed in China.

Project Natal is set to launch by this holiday and Microsoft may want to do a relaunch such as the PS3 slim did last year – so a 360 slim would make a lot of sense. Whether it be true or not, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest on this rumor.

For those of you still playing Final Fantasy XIII, you’d better hurry up because another high-definition Japanese RPG released this week, too. SEGA and tri-Ace’s Resonance of Fate puts players in a world where Earth’s surface is swimming with poisonous gases and its citizens must live in the huge mechanical tower known as Basel. Then one day, the tower begins to malfunction.

It’s sets in a gritty, steam-punk world. Three heroes to play as and a brand new battle system to try out. Sound appealing? Check out the final batch of screenshots at the gallery.

The cover for the next issue of GamePro has been released tonight. While Splinter Cell: Conviction is taking the spot for the cover story, there’s one new game that’s still been revealed.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, it’s called. It’s a new Spidey game, obviously, but what about? Looks like we’ll have to wait until the next issue of GamePro hits newsstands, doesn’t it?

Gears of War 3 has yet to be announced, but with the success of Gears of War 2, it’s almost a given. According to a “trusted US publishing source” of Edge Online, that announcement will come on April 8, followed by a full reveal at E3 and eventually a release in April 2011.

The source said the game could be completed as early as the end of the year, but due to Microsoft’s Halo: Reach and Project Natal launching within that time frame, they want to hold it off.

“Microsoft’s keen to avoid a clash with Halo: Reach and wants Natal to own Christmas. That’s why we won’t be seeing Gears Of War 3 until next year, but expect a major marketing push ahead of its release,” said the source.

Epic Games vice-president Mark Rein has responded to the rumor, simply asking: “You’re kidding, right?”

Is he baffled that we found out or in utter disbelief that anyone believes the rumor? The world may never know – well, until next month, that is.

The final chapter in Kratos’ trilogy has finally arrived. God of War III is now available for purchase across North America exclusively on PlayStation 3. The third chapter boasts stunning graphics, groundbreaking depths of scale, and the franchise’s signature gameplay this time better than ever.

“Since its announcement last spring and our demonstration shown at E3 2009, God of War III has remained one of the most eagerly anticipated titles in recent memory,” said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President, Product Marketing, SCEA. “With this unique experience, our development team has truly set a new bar for the video game industry, leveraging the power of the PS3 to create a technical masterpiece that couples jaw-dropping visuals with a gripping story sure to amaze fans and newcomers alike.”

God of War III picks up exactly where the second game left off. I won’t say where, for those who may still be working on their God of War Collection, but an epic game was foreshadowed. Today it arrives.

For all of our God of War III coverage, follow the game’s tag here: http://scrawlfx.com/tag/god-of-war-iii

The latest issue of Famitsu has provided new details on Level 5’s White Knight Chronicles: The Awakening of Light and Darkness, as well as a Japanese release date for summer 2010.

According to the Famitsu preview, the battle gauge in the second game has been sped up in comparison to the first. A dash ability has been added, as well.

The sequel will feature more dynamic environments, as the scenery will change with the different seasons and types of weather that pass.

The last bit of new info is that a new fifteen-year old character named Miu will join Leonard’s party.

So, that’s summer 2010 for Japan. Does that make it summer 2011 for us?

Yakuza 4 is all set to release in Japan this Thursday, March 18. Although, there’s already a new Yakuza game in the works, teased as “Project K”.

Yakuza series director Toshihiro Nagoshi announced the game at a Yakuza 4 press conference earlier this morning.

The company showed off a teaser trailer for “Project K”, which displayed a young man walking around the city at night during the rain. The Kamurocho entrance sign seen in past Yakuza games can be seen in the clip, as well.

During the whole scene, the following text flash on the screen:

The video ends with the text: “A new challenge for Yakuza starts.”

No platforms have been announced, but given the series’ complete past on PlayStation, I think it’s safe to say it’ll be a PlayStation 3 title.

Famitsu has three small shots from the teaser, if you want to check them out.
